The Tablets of 2011

by Josh Temps

I’ve got to say, 2011 was the year of the tablets. There have been many tablets come and go this past year and we are going to go over a view of the best and worst tablets of 2011 in no particular order or category. So starting of we have the biggest tablet of 2011 was the iPad 2

It comes at a price of $499, it features iOS 5, a front and back facing camera, cases and we can’t forget the beloved smart cover which is one heck of a idea/device. We also have the Acer Iconia tablet which runs some version of Android, to me the tablet feels  unresponsive and unfinished, maybe because it’s running Android. To me it’s not a good tablet but it may be better for others and suit others needs.

And the next release was the HP Touchpad running WebOS. It started at $499 and was the first ever tablet to run WebOS. Sadly the tablet failed and eventually HP took action but lowering the price to a amazing Firesale price of $99, from there many people bought the tablet. I was extremely lucky and picked up a HP Touchpad and to me it’s one of the best tablets around, i like it because it is smooth, clean and is great for multi-taskers like me.

And last but not least we have the Motorola Xoom. It starts at $499 just like the Touchpad and the iPad. It ships with Android 3.1 Honeycomb and can be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich when it comes out. It also comes with a 10.1-inch HD windscreen display and has up to 64GB of storage. It also comes with lots of power, it’s got 1GB of RAM and a Dual0core processor. To me it’s a very nice tablet, i just have to use it in stores a little more.

But wait, there is one more, this tablet is called the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime, it ships with Android 3.2 and upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich, it also comes with 1GN of RAM, a 10.1-inch screen and a Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor with a Quad Core CPU. You can pre-order this right now for $499 at Bestbuy, Newegg, TigerDirect and for all the Canadians you can by it on Amazon.com.
